Weilheim - In the early afternoon, the carnival fun in the center of Weilheim started quite slowly. While the waffle irons were still being heated at one of the almost two dozen stalls, the first visitors came to Marienplatz. When the guards came onto the stage, there was hardly any way through, so the masked and unmasked crowded - the latter in significant numbers - on the square.
Climate change was a popular topic. Eskimos and polar explorers were missing, but ripe pineapples were on the way. The bees had flown out too, and even a frog had mingled with the audience. The bright yellow and bright green costume by Markus Loth should really only be a costume, as the mayor assured, no recommendation to vote. A stand made a slightly different impression, from which blue hearts with the inscription "Team Flock" flocked in droves.
Something is always possible
The appeal to the singer of the Peißenberg "Frohsinn 2000" men's guard that the audience should "sing along, sing along, dance along, clap along - something is fine", which raised the carnival mood. But when the German fool, who wore the flight suit of an American air force pilot, sang “Moscow, Moscow - Russia is a beautiful country”, one could also ponder the global political events and the security conference that had just ended in Munich.
"I've been coming since the inner city carnival. I was there every year, except two years ago, because the weather was so bad at that time, ”said Manfred Burkert from Weilheim. He realizes that this year it was "the warmest downtown carnival" that he can remember. The family of five came to Marienplatz. Daughter Michaela Günl and grandchildren - still in their strollers - “came specifically from Peißenberg” because Günl “is enthusiastic about the Weilheim carnival.” But the Peißenberg carnival procession on February 23 is also on her schedule.
