Beirut (dpa) - Japan is trying to deliver the former car boss Carlos Ghosn, who has fled, to the Lebanese leadership.
Japanese Vice Minister Hiroyuki Yoshiie met the Lebanese capital Beirut with President Michel Aoun and Justice Minister Marie-Claude Nadschm, among others, as the state news agency NNA reported. Aoun confirmed in the conversation that there is no extradition agreement with Japan.
Former top manager Ghosn was arrested and charged in Japan for violating stock market conditions, among other things. However, the ex-boss of the car company Nissan fled to Beirut in December in violation of bail conditions with a private jet, allegedly hidden in a box. He rejected all allegations and spoke of a conspiracy against him. In addition to French, Ghosn also has Lebanese and Brazilian citizenship.
