With confinement, "the number of online complaints has doubled"

INTERVIEW - Commissioner Samuel Hosotte believes that online pre-complaints are an “essential palliative” for victims.


Head of the Prevention and Partnerships Division at the Central Directorate of Public Security (DCSP), Commissioner Samuel Hosotte recalls the interest of online pre-complaints for victims.

LE FIGARO. - Is online pre-complaint successful in these times of confinement?

Samuel HOSOTTE. - It is an essential palliative, since the population can no longer move around too much in the police and gendarmerie services. Online pre-complaints have doubled with containment. From 1,563 pre-complaints per day on average, between March 16 and March 31, 2019, we increased to 2,947 pre-complaints over the same period in 2020. We will have to sort it out, because I bet that some pre-complaints will not necessarily correspond to what they are dedicated.

What types of facts are concerned, in principle?

Exclusively damage to property and only with a view to filing a complaint against X. These are degradations, thefts, burglaries or scams in particular, including the victims
