Germany announced Friday, July 31, that it was suspending the extradition treaty between Berlin and Hong Kong, in reaction to China's imposition of a controversial security law in the former British colony.

“ In view of the current developments, we have decided to suspend the extradition agreement with Hong Kong, ” German Foreign Minister Heiko Maas said in a press release.
