Germany suspends extradition treaty with Hong Kong

Germany announced Friday, July 31, that it was suspending the extradition treaty between Berlin and Hong Kong, in reaction to China's imposition of a controversial security law in the former British colony. Germany announced Friday, July 31, that it was suspending the extradition treaty between Berlin and Hong Kong, in reaction to China's imposition of a controversial security law in the former British colony.

“ In view of the current developments, we have decided to suspend the extradition agreement with Hong Kong, ” German Foreign Minister Heiko Maas said in a press release.
