Less than a week before Rosh Hashanah, members of the Ashkenazi community began saying the "Slichot", the piyyutim recited in the period before the holiday, last night (Saturday evening).
In doing so, they join members of the Eastern community who have been performing the Slichot for the past month.
Several thousand people arrived at the Western Wall last night, who received permission to enter by lottery.
They were divided into capsules to prevent infection.
The Western Wall plaza, which is usually very crowded and almost impossible to move, was empty more than ever.

Order was maintained overall, despite the strong desire of the worshipers to reach the Western Wall stones.
As every year, a huge screen was placed where you could watch a prayer.
There were a number of local clashes between worshipers who came out of the capsules intended for them, but these ended quickly with the help of the Western Wall ushers.

The prayers at the Western Wall will continue in the coming days, along with the continuation of discussions on the outline of the prayers for Rosh Hashanah.
This coming Thursday, the main Slichot class will be held at the Western Wall, which will be broadcast live to viewers in Israel and around the world, many of whom come to the place every year, and this time will have to stay at home.
