The Munich II public prosecutor's office is investigating the former mayor of the lake, Michael Bernwieser (PfB).

When asked by this newspaper, a chief detective of the criminal police in Weilheim confirmed this: "There is an investigation," he said.

The incumbent mayor of the Seeshaupter, Fritz Egold (CSU), had previously said in the latest municipal council meeting that criminal proceedings against his predecessor were pending at the Munich II public prosecutor's office.

The municipal councilors Georg Leiniger and Stefan Müller, who - like Bernwieser also - belong to the "party-free citizens Seeshaupt-Magnetsried" (PfB), had asked the new mayor of the lake, Fritz Egold, at the municipal council meeting on Tuesday.

He read the letter out at the meeting.

The two PfB parish councils wanted to know whether it was true that files had been destroyed in connection with the change of mayor in the spring.

They referred to the local council meeting in July, at which a citizen asked as part of the citizens' question quarter hour whether the rumors were true that files had been shredded and documents had disappeared from the town hall.

The new mayor replied to this question at the time: “When I came to the town hall, my office and hard drive were empty.” This was reported in this newspaper.

Subsequently, a citizen of the Seeshaupter filed charges against Bernwieser.

The fact that the office and hard drive were empty is not an answer that serves to clarify the situation, and this formulation also causes the "suspicious scenario" to be expanded, according to the local councils in their question at the October meeting.

The new mayor Egold said he could not say whether something had been deleted.

This question may now be answered elsewhere, because the investigating commissioner appeared in the Seeshaupter town hall, asked the new mayor about the processes surrounding the change of office and took the empty computer with him.

“As soon as the community has an investigation report, it will of course be communicated to the committee,” said Egold in the community council meeting on Tuesday.

For reasons of tactical investigations, he could not make any further statements at the moment in order not to complicate the work of the criminal police.

The investigating Kripo commissioner also said that he could only confirm that a procedure was ongoing, but did not provide any further information - not even about the direction in which the investigation was taking place.

In their inquiry at the most recent meeting, Leininger and Müller also submitted a detailed catalog of questions on the subjects of “digital security” and “data protection”, which the Seeshaupter municipal administration now has to deal with in more detail.

The mayor pointed out, however, “that the answers should certainly not be made public.
