Superintendent Alan Chung, the Criminal Headquarters of the West Kowloon Region, said that the police had targeted an international drug trafficking syndicate earlier. Criminals used novel and rare methods to transport large quantities of drugs to Hong Kong and supply them to the market in West Kowloon.

At about 6:45 pm the day before yesterday (25th), the detectives found the drug factory involved in a warehouse in Kwu Tung, Sheung Shui and arrested a 32-year-old Pakistani man on the spot. He reportedly was unemployed and holding street paper.

Zhong Yalun continued that detectives seized about 42.7 kilograms of methamphetamine and 20 iron boxes full of stones, weighing about 1 ton, including 49 hollow stones, and seized a batch of drug packaging tools.

Preliminary investigation believed that the drug cartel cut part of the stone, then took the center of the stone, mixed the drugs into the stone, and repaired the stone with chemicals.

Afterwards, the drugs were transported to Hong Kong by air via the airport in Peshawar, Pakistan. Upon arrival, they were sent to the Sheung Shui ancient cave warehouse for the process of "breaking rocks and taking drugs."

According to the police, the market value of the drugs is about HK$25.8 million. It is believed that the drugs arrived in Hong Kong for a few days. The arrested man used a hammer to smash stones and take out the drugs in the warehouse.

It is understood that the stones seized included blue lapis lazuli.

Zhong Yalun said that he believed that drugs did not enter the local market and the operation was successful against the international drug cartel that had been operating for about 2 to 3 months. The 32-year-old Pakistani man was charged with drug trafficking and will appear in West Kowloon Magistracy tomorrow (28th). .

The police reiterated that drug trafficking is a serious crime. According to the Dangerous Drugs Ordinance, once convicted, the maximum penalty is a fine of 5 million yuan and life imprisonment. The public is urged not to try the law.

The police did not rule out further actions.
