The Christmas holidays are brought forward in Lower Saxony due to Corona.
For the time after that, Minister of Culture Tonne has one goal in mind.
In
Lower Saxony
, "Scenario B" (alternating lessons) will apply to every school in a Corona * hotspot from 01.12.2020
The
school holidays
have been extended by two days from December 21, 2020 to January 8, 2021.
In the new year, Minister of Culture Tonne definitely wants to
ensure
classroom teaching at schools
.
Göttingen - The
corona pandemic
will continue to
occupy
people in
Germany in 2021
.
The lockdown light in November had no effect.
The number of new infections has not decreased significantly in any federal state.
The federal and state governments therefore agreed to extend the measures until January 10th.
For the schools in Lower Saxony, the
Christmas holidays have been brought
forward to December 21, 2020 in order to give the children enough time to isolate themselves.
Relatives are supposed to be
protected
from
infection
on Christmas Eve
.
But what happens after that?
Lower Saxony's Minister of Education, Tonne, has a clear opinion on the future of school teaching in 2021.
Corona in Lower Saxony: Children should go to school
Education Minister Grant Henrik Tonne's goal for the new year is
as
much classroom teaching
as possible
in
school
.
"But not by bending and breaking, but always sorted into the development of the number of infections," said the SPD politician of the "Hannoversche Allgemeine Zeitung" on Friday, December 4th, 2020.
Tonne promises that there is no debate about a possible extension of the school holidays.
“You also have to look at the situation after the turn of the year.
We brought the holidays forward in order to recognize a possible infection before Christmas Eve and to be able to visit relatives ”, quotes the dpa Tonne.
The minister of education wanted the children in
Lower Saxony to
experience as much regular lessons in the classroom as possible - despite
Corona

Corona in Niederachsen: There will be no longer holidays
On the basis of the unconditional continuation of school lessons in
Lower Saxony
, the Ministry of Culture has three different scenarios in mind for 2021.
According to Tonne, none of them provide for extended vacations or the termination of classes.
“These scenarios carry us through the school year.
But it is important to adjust the framework for this again and again, ”said the Minister of Education to the Hannoversche Allgemeine Zeitung with regard to the number of infections.
In his opinion, the
school in Lower Saxony is not a source of infection
.
"We do not have mass distribution in schools." Rather, children in other places are infected with
Corona
.
The outlook for
schools
in
Lower Saxony is
currently
positive.
There is a slight decrease in the number of infections, including in schools, according to Tonne.
Corona in Lower Saxony: decentralized high school diploma in an emergency
Ton is optimistic about the future: "If we succeed, Christmas and New Year's Eve to be reasonable, then the school year on January 11, with less strain will tackle are we experience the present state." Climbing the
Corona infection levels
in
Lower Saxony
resist Expect the face-to-face teaching to be impaired again for weeks.
In this case, Tonne sees the possibility of changing the central high school diploma to a “decentralized” high school diploma.
This should take into account the difficult and regionally different learning conditions.
The examinations should then be adapted to the material that was actually taken in class in the previous months.
"But there is no free Abitur," warned Tonne.
The same considerations should also be applied to Haupt-, Real-, and Förderschule degrees.
Corona at school: Lower Saxony has the toughest infection protection measures
In
Lower Saxony
, the vast majority of pupils have been in
school to
date
.
According to Tonne, this is a success of the infection control measures in Lower Saxony.
The country has the toughest measures of all federal states.
“That is why we have more than 90 percent of all students in face-to-face classes.
80 percent of the
schools
are not affected by the infection, ”he told the“ Nordwest-Zeitung ”.
"The first lockdown showed us how important it is that the students study together in school."
Corona in Lower Saxony: ton against changing lessons
Salzgitter (Lower Saxony)
decided in December to send all students to alternate classes until the Christmas break on December 21.
Later there were calls
to apply
this so-called "scenario B" to all
schools in Lower Saxony
.
However, the bin was rejected.
The current facts do not allow such a step.
The constant change between lessons in school and digitally from home means an additional burden for families, argues Tonne.
In Salzgitter, 7,200 students have to stay at home because of the alternating lessons.
"These young people also have a right to get fair opportunities for education," Tonne told the Nordwest-Zeitung.
