The explosion killed more than 200 people on August 4. Hassan Diab's government resigned a few days later.

Four months after the deadly explosions in Beirut, the resigning Prime Minister Hassan Diab and three former ministers have been indicted.

The double explosion in the port of Beirut left more than 200 dead on August 4.

A few days later, on August 10, Hassan Diab presented the resignation of his government.

“The explosion in Beirut is one of the manifestations of the system and the result of endemic corruption,” he said in a final speech.

But Hassan Diab continues to run the day-to-day business pending the formation of a new government.

He admitted that 2,750 tons of ammonium nitrate stored in the warehouse at the port of Beirut had exploded after a fire.

More than 6,500 injured and entire neighborhoods devastated

In early December, institutional donors unveiled a program to rebuild Beirut and help its people, estimating the funds needed at $ 2.5 billion over eighteen months.

The tragedy also left more than 6,500 injured and devastated entire neighborhoods.

An investigation by Lebanese authorities has already resulted in the arrest of 25 people, including port and customs officials, but no findings have been released at this stage.
