Another achievement in the Corona struggle: The US Food and Drug Administration (FDA) approved tonight (Saturday light) the use of a modern company's vaccine, a decision that will allow millions of vaccine doses already produced to be injected into the US health care system.

On Thursday, the organization's expert committee recommended issuing an emergency permit for the modern company's corona vaccine.

"Modern's vaccine is safe and effective, it is recommended that it be approved," the experts said in a statement.

If there are no surprises, the final confirmation will be received during the weekend and even in the next day.

FDA chief Stephen Hahn said he would act quickly to finalize the vaccine.

Once approved, the vaccine will be distributed in millions of doses, intended for health care workers and nursing home seniors, as part of the largest vaccination campaign in U.S. history.

Modern's vaccine uses the same groundbreaking technology as Pfizer's.

While most traditional vaccines use a dead or attenuated virus, the two new vaccines take genetic code snippets of the COVID-19 virus to train the immune system to detect and fight the virus.

Both require two servings, several weeks apart.

A few days ago, the Director of Pharmaceuticals and Food confirmed the modern findings that the vaccine's efficacy rate stands at 94 percent after being tested on more than 30,000 people, an unprecedented figure for clinical trials.

Modern has no less than six million doses of vaccine, which are enough to vaccinate three million citizens, which were produced even before FDA approval, and are awaiting distribution in the United States.

The company still has an unknown number of vaccine doses intended for export to foreign countries, including Israel.
