A man behaved extremely unreasonably on Sunday.
Too late and without a headlamp, he marched on the Hoher Fricken mountain - with his five-year-old son.
The mountain rescue service had to save them.
When a
father
marched up a mountain
with his son
, he put both of them in
danger
.
On the
way back
- in the dark and in the freezing cold - the climbers reached their
limits
.
The mountain rescue service had to save the two, but the father showed
no understanding
.
Everything from the region is available in the GAP newsletter.
Garmisch-Partenkirchen / Farchant
- The
mountain rescue
service is committed to neutrality, does not judge, only helps.
“We don't want to pillory anyone,” emphasizes Willi Brenner.
But some
behavior
also makes experienced forces like him thoughtful.
And, he is honest after the
mission
on Sunday, “it annoys me”.
Garmisch-Partenkirchen / Farchant: Father walks with his son (5) up the mountain - and puts both in danger
No matter how wrong the man behaved on Sunday, whom the men of the Garmisch-Partenkirchen mountain rescue service rescued from the mountain in the freezing cold: “He didn't see anything,” says the operations manager.
His
“irresponsibility and irresponsibility” were
serious - and he not only
endangered
himself, but also his
five-year-old son
.
The native Russian, who
lives
in
Munich
, drove to Farchant with his son on Sunday.
It was only around 2 p.m. that they started over the Kuhflucht waterfalls to
Hohen Fricken.
A tour with almost
1300 meters of altitude
, which is specified with about three and a half hours of walking.
In addition, it leads over a
steep path
that requires sure-footedness even in summer, especially given the current conditions and the sometimes extremely
smooth passages
.
Garmisch-Partenkirchen / Hoher Fricken: Father and son reach their limits on the way back to the summit - an emergency call is made
In fact, the two reached the summit and started on their
way back
.
In doing so, they reached their limits.
It was dark, and
Father hadn't packed
headlamps
.
The cell phone light was not enough for orientation - let alone for a safe descent.
The man, who only speaks Russian and English, called home in Munich and his family made the
emergency call
.
At 6 p.m. he arrived at the
Garmisch-Partenkirchen mountain rescue service
.
The man was immediately contacted by phone and located on the cell phone.
He and his son were about
100 to 150 meters below the summit
.
Fortunately not yet further away, says Brenner.
"Otherwise it might have been a mess - and too dangerous." He sent them back to the summit, where they should wait, keep themselves warm and - apart from the mountain rescue service, who were always in contact - not phone anyone to save the battery save.
Garmisch-Partenkirchen: mountain rescue service reaches father and son at the summit - "Boy was really brave"
Two men of readiness drove with the quad in the
direction of the Esterbergalm
.
On the one hand, the path over this side is gentler and less exposed and therefore more suitable for the descent with father and son.
On the other hand, they came motorized up to around 1300 meters.
There are only about 650 meters of altitude left to walk.
Around 8.30 p.m., the emergency services reached the father and son with warm tea in their luggage.
“The boy was in top shape and really brave,”
says Brenner.
In general, both were always positive - despite the cold.
In one of the depressions on the way back, a mountain rescuer's cell phone had
indicated
minus 20 degrees
.
So that the two didn't have to drive the quad down into the valley in the temperatures, Brenner sent
the mountain
rescue ambulance out
.
Forces also wanted to meet them with warm blankets - so the plan.
But the vehicle was stopped near the ski club hut - a
flat tire
.
So we went down to the valley by quad.
The mountain rescue mission ended at 0.15 a.m.
Garmisch-Partenkirchen: After the mountain rescue service - father shows no insight - "It can turn out very differently"
Anyone can overestimate themselves or
make
a
mistake
, emphasizes Brenner.
But one has to learn from this.
The chief of operations told the man how bad his idea was to leave with the boy so late, not to turn around.
Everything without a headlamp, only with Grödeln (half crampons).
But the man just "laughed away".
"It can all turn out very differently".
Frozen, but unhurt and in good spirits, father and son finally arrived at the car in Farchant thanks to the mountain rescue service.
This was
noticed by a
police patrol
because the car was still parked there after 9 p.m.
The Russians do not face any consequences in this regard - because of the
emergency.
The cold wave has caused the first lakes to freeze over - and triggered a rush of leisure activities.
Murnau recently had to pull the emergency brake and close a lake.
Corona rules were broken in rows.
The situation between townspeople and rural residents is currently tense in the Garmisch-Partenkirchen district.
