A new chapter of the fierce union internal that the Buenos Aires UOCRA has was lived in the first hours of this Monday in the town of Ensenada, more precisely at the entrance to the Hydroelectric Plant.
There, a protest ended in a serious confrontation between two factions of that union, which included
shots and stones and left two seriously injured.
According to the first information, workers from the Techint company reported that the UOCRA faction headed by
Cristian "Puly" Medina
, one of Juan Pablo "Pata" Medina's sons, attacked them with stones, sticks and even firearms.
"They want to recover the works of the region and SITRAIC (Union of workers of the Construction Industry), which is the new union, has the work of Techint, which is one of the largest.
That is why they attacked us
," said the workers to the newspaper
El Día
.
It all started around 7 when a large group of protesters arrived at the Central, located on diagonal 74, on the way to Punta Lara.
Although at first it was planned to carry out a leaflet, workers of the place denounced that several of the protesters entered the place and began to attack the employees.
In this context, a 65-year-old man, allegedly a member of the union,
suffered a stab in the abdomen
while another 33-year-old (company employee)
ended up with a firearm shot to
the foot.
Both were referred to the Cestino Hospital in Ensenada, where they were operated on.
Last week, the same faction of the UOCRA, which is trying to regain control of the union, carried out a large march towards Calle 44 between 4 and 5, in La Plata, at the door of what was until a little more than three years ago the Guild headquarters, which was transferred after being intervened.
Juan Pablo "Pata" Medina was arrested in 2017 on charges of "illicit association, aggravated coercion and repeated extortion".
From that moment, the guild began a tough intern for driving control.
Currently, Medina is under house arrest at his home in Punta Lara, very close to where the incidents occurred on Monday.
