Uncertainty and confusion seized hundreds of passengers in the Dominican Republic who could not travel this Tuesday because they did not have a negative PCR test for covid-19 carried out in the last 72 hours, mandatory to enter the United States. .

From the Las Américas International Airport in Santo Domingo to the Cibao International Airport in Santiago, hundreds of passengers who planned to leave for the United States were prevented because they did not have the coronavirus tests required by the Government of the North American country.

The general administrator of the Cibao International Airport, Teófilo Gómez, pointed out that many of the travelers had to reschedule their flights in order to undergo the laboratory test.

Such is the case of Rosa Clase, who had to postpone her trip to New York because she presented a PCR test that was more than three days old.

History repeats itself with Puerto Rican Jose Caraquillo, who had plans to get home but his covid-19 test was also expired.

For the Dominican Pedro Botello, the situation became more complicated.

He had moved more than 160 km, from Samaná, to the airport in Santo Domingo, with a wrong covid-19 test.

"Now I have to go back to look for a room (money), I don't know where, out there, to be able to do that (the test) because when you go out you have your plans," Botello lamented.

The Ministry of Public Health reported 1,143 new cases and 19 deaths on Wednesday.

In total, the country registered 206,305 cases of coronavirus and 2,564 deaths.
