Sanitary measures require, the year 2020 was that of contactless and online commerce.

It would be hasty to say goodbye to cash, however, according to Brink's France.

The company, best known for the transport of funds, has just launched Point Cash Service, a payment system for buying online and paying for cash at a partner merchant.

Concretely, when purchasing a product or service online, the consumer has the option of using the Point Cash Service option.

A method of payment which therefore comes in addition to payment by card or via PayPal.

Once the transaction has been carried out via Point Cash Service, the buyer, provided with a barcode printed or displayed on his smartphone, as well as his identity card, goes to a partner establishment to make the payment in cash. .

Once the money has been collected, the transaction is notified to the site on which the purchase was made.

At the moment, the system is still in its infancy.

Brink's has only signed a partnership with tobacconists, currently numbering 300. But the company assures us that they will be 1,600 in June.

A very gradual start which can be explained by the obligation for any merchant wishing to become a partner to be approved by the prudential control and resolution authority.

But Brink's does not intend to limit itself to tobacco shops.

This is a first step “

before diversifying our partner points of sale - tobacconists but also convenience stores, press outlets, etc.

- so that the density of the network is as wide as possible

”, explains Patrick Lagarde, CEO of Brink's France.

The biggest challenge for the money conveyor is especially on the side of e-commerce platforms and companies.

To allow Point Cash Service to become a real alternative to the bank card or PayPal, the company must indeed convince them to adopt its new service.

For the moment, only the Corsica Linea shipping company offers this solution.

But other companies should soon join it.

Brink's indicates that it has already signed “

with a major energy supplier

”.

A solution for many consumers, according to Brink's

What categories of French people might be interested in this new payment method?

Brink's has identified three consumer profiles.

First, the French are unable to pay over the internet.

They may find themselves permanently incapacitated: not having a bank account, being banned from banking or having only a withdrawal card.

They can also be temporarily incapacitated: card payment limit reached, card lost ... "

These people represent about 10% of the population

", estimates Brink's.

The second group identified, but also the most important, is those who do not wish to give their payment details on the internet.

This would represent 20% of the population.

The third segment is made up of people who find themselves, at a certain time, in possession of a substantial amount of cash.

Blessed bread for those looking to launder money?

Brink's ensures that it has implemented sufficient security measures.

During the first purchase, the user will have to send a selfie and a photo of their ID card to the company.

These data will be compared to a database to verify the possible existence of a criminal record.

Even if nothing is detected at the time, the information will be stored on the company's servers, to which “

only state organs can have access.

Under no circumstances will we be able to monetize them,

”reassures Brink's.

With its new service, the money conveyor does not intend to stop at payments.

He explains that he has also established a partnership with two neobanks, Anytime and Veracash.

These two establishments which do not have physical counters will be able by this same means to collect the cash that their customers wish to deposit.
