The possibility that the corona virus leaked from a lab in China is "extremely unlikely," and it apparently passed to humans through an animal, a World Health Organization expert said today (Tuesday) after the organization's delegation visit the city of Wuhan.

Peter Ben Amberk, an expert in food safety and animal disease, said there was no need for further research into this theory.

He said the virus may have passed through frozen food, and further investigation is needed.

China is pushing this idea and has repeatedly declared the detection of virus residues in imported frozen food.

This is while she rejected the possibility that he leaked from the Institute of Virology in Wuhan, where there are many samples of viruses, and from there spread to the city where he was first identified.

Since the outbreak, China has advanced conspiracy theories that the virus originated elsewhere, and was even brought into its territory as an American biological weapon.

"We know the virus can survive in the conditions found in these cold and frozen environments, but we do not really understand if the virus can be transmitted to humans or under what conditions," he told a news briefing.

Ambrak added that the source of the virus may be among bats, but it is unlikely they were in Wuhan.

He said the researchers looked at whether the virus had spread earlier than known, and that samples were needed for further research as well.

In addition to the Institute of Virology in the city of central China, the World Health Organization's expert team visited hospitals, research institutes and the market where the first case was identified.

Ambrak stressed during a press conference held at a hotel in the city that the investigation did not dramatically change the picture around in relation to the outbreak.

The visit of the international team of experts, which began after two weeks of isolation since arriving in the city on January 14, was made possible only after months of negotiations between the organization and China, following international pressure and Beijing closely monitored them as opposed to a completely independent investigation into the virus. , Which claimed the lives of more than 2.2 million people worldwide in about a year.
