Some neighbours pointed out that the fallen couple lived in a low-rise unit on the site. Their family has just moved into the building for a few months. The couple has retired and they often go out together.
Some practicing lawyers pointed out that if two or more people meet to commit suicide, that means all those involved in the suicide intend to ask for death, which is a crime of suicide agreement.
The lawyer pointed out that the threshold of proof in a case is quite high. If there is no objective evidence such as closed-circuit television recordings and audio recordings, the parties mainly rely on their own confession, making it difficult to obtain evidence.

The incident occurred in the early hours of today (10th), a couple who were about 70 years old fell off the platform of the Haocai Mansion Building. Among them, 73-year-old father Liu died on the spot, and 66-year-old wife Xu died after being sent to the hospital. .
According to sources, after investigation, the police suspected that Liu's family had been troubled by money problems recently. After someone was arrested, they reported that they owed about 200,000 yuan in debt.
According to the search data, the fallen Liu and his wife bought a flat on the site last July for 3.23 million yuan.
It is reported that the couple and their son originally planned to go to Huangquan as a family of three. At that time, the suspected couple had fallen off the building one after another. However, the 41-year-old son temporarily "shrinked the sand" to dispel death.
Police officers arrived at the scene and found his son on the floor of the building. He was arrested by a black cloth covering his head.
After the police investigation, it was believed that Liu Zi had assisted his parents in suicide. He was arrested on suspicion of "assisting others to commit suicide".

Taking the case of a couple committing suicide by burning charcoal as an example, the police can infer whether anyone has participated in the suicide process based on objective facts such as whether the couple bought charcoal or a charcoal stove together beforehand.

The current law in Hong Kong: the survivor of the suicide agreement is equivalent to committing manslaughter
According to the "Suicide Agreement", Article 5 of the Homicide Ordinance, Chapter 339 of the Laws of Hong Kong, any person kills another person, participates in another person's suicide, or participates in a third person's killing another person based on his suicide agreement with another person All of his actions are manslaughter.
Survivors of the suicide agreement are tantamount to committing manslaughter, with a maximum penalty of life imprisonment.
If one person instigates or encourages another person to commit suicide, but does not participate in any suicide or assisted suicide behavior, it is a
concomitant suicide crime
.
Section 33B of the "Criminal Liability for Coordinated Suicide", Chapter 212 of the Laws of Hong Kong, "Criminal Liability for Coordinated Suicide". Anyone who assists, abets, instigates or induces another person to commit suicide or attempts to commit suicide is regarded as a criminal act and can be tried by indictment. The crime, once convicted, carries a maximum sentence of 14 years in prison.
