In a fatal car accident in Sham Shui Po at 7pm yesterday (18th) evening, a 45-year-old man at the junction of Pei Ho Street and Hai Tan Street was hit by a vehicle after a suspected slip and fell. He died after being sent to hospital for rescue.
About three hours later, the police found a dump truck at the junction of Song Wong Tai Road and Pak Tai Street in Kowloon City, but the whereabouts of the driver has been unknown.
As of today (19th), the male driver of the dump truck, accompanied by a man and a woman lawyer, returned to Songhuangtai Road to assist in the investigation. The police officers searched for evidence on the police car for his eye checks.
It is understood that the police contacted the owner of the dump truck and the company based on the license plate of the dump truck and learned that the company later found the relevant driver. The other party, accompanied by a lawyer, returned to the site where the dump truck was located. He was suspected of "dangerous driving causing death to others." Arrested and being detained for investigation.
The incident occurred at 7 o'clock last night. A man was found with blood in his nose, mouth and head. He was lying on the road at the junction of Beihe Street and Haitan Street. After being sent to hospital, he was certified dead.
Witnesses said that the deceased had been hit by a car and the whereabouts of the vehicle involved was unknown.
According to the police, the deceased was named Huang (45 years old).
At about 7:45 last night, he was suspected of slipping and falling on Haitan Street. He was hit by a heavy goods vehicle turning right into Haitan Street along Beihe Street. He suffered serious head injuries. He was in a coma and was sent to Caritas Medical Centre for emergency treatment. He was certified dead at 8:30.
After the accident, the truck involved in the case left the scene. Police later recovered the vehicle at the junction of Songhuangtai Road and Pak Di Street. A male driver surnamed Liao (38 years old) was arrested on suspicion of "dangerous driving causing death to others" and is now being detained for investigation.
