Wind power in the Hofoldinger forest: Brunnthal municipal councils call for withdrawal from the ARGE

The subject of wind power could get stormy again in Brunnthal. Because some municipal councils are calling for the exit from the working group (ARGE) wind energy. The decision will be made on Wednesday.

The subject of wind power could get stormy again in Brunnthal.

Because some municipal councils are calling for the exit from the working group (ARGE) wind energy.

The decision will be made on Wednesday.

Brunnthal

- According to current plans, four wind turbines could be built in the Hofoldinger Forest.

Four potential locations were identified, one for each municipality on both sides of the A 8 motorway. Aying, Brunnthal, Otterfing and Sauerlach as well as the two districts of Munich and Miesbach belong to the “ARGE Windenergie im Hofoldinger Forst”.

With the merger and its own site security agreement, they want to have a say in the future design.

ARGE advocates such as Brunnthal's mayor Stefan Kern (CSU) see the merger of the municipalities as the only way to secure municipal interests against the efforts of private investors on sensitive landscape protection terrain and to limit the number of wind turbines.

Because of the great distance to settlements (ten times the height of the wind turbines), the area is privileged for the use of wind energy, that is, the construction of wind turbines can only be refused if other public interests speak against it.

However, the ARGE communities want to have a say in the design.

Sauerlach and Otterfing have already approved the project after the species protection report and wind measurements were positive.

Jürgen Gott leaves PWB because of personal differences

Next Wednesday (7 p.m., Festsaal Landgasthof), the Brunnthal Council will have to decide in a special meeting on the motion of some municipal councils.

These demand the immediate withdrawal from the ARGE.

There is also rumbling in the ranks of those in favor of the exit.

Because councilor Jürgen Gott has now resigned from the party-free voter group Brunnthal (PWB).

God, last year mayor candidate, formulated the ARGE resignation application with letterhead from his PWB parliamentary group.

God and his previous colleague in the parliamentary group and third mayor Robert Huber are still in the same boat during the factual debate: "We are not fundamentally against wind power, but not in the sensitive landscape protection area of the Hofoldinger Forest." Huber assures that the ARGE will be supported despite Gott's departure .

"However, we reject all allegations against others in Gott's motion," Huber draws a clear line.

“The municipal council was and is being misinformed by the ARGE by pretending to be a constructed threat,” is the accusation that Jürgen Gott formulated in the ARGE's application to withdraw.

In it he also cites “too close political and personal closeness to Huber to the mayor” as the reason for his faction departure.

Mayor: "The report exceeded my expectations"

Mayor Kern accuses God of veiling.

It cannot be that the long-standing reports on wind measurement and the economic efficiency of a plant operation in the forest, as well as the examinations under species protection law, are not presented to the municipal council in detail.

"So you can probably not finally vote on Wednesday".

Former parliamentary group colleague Huber, the rough overview of the results is sufficient.

“The results of the expert opinion did not surprise me”.

One could not speak of an economical operation of the systems in the forest.

Kern does not share this assessment: "The report has exceeded my expectations - you can earn good money with wind power in the forest and drive forward the energetic change." In addition, the necessary results would be presented to the councils.

However, it is not an opinion from the community, but from the district, which is also carefully weighed in terms of law and content.

Legal reasons speak against publication.

Kern: There is no other location than the forest

"It's a necessary evil, certainly not pretty, but convincing in its efficiency," said Brunnthal's mayor, assessing his pros and cons of wind power in the forest.

The distances to housing estates, especially in the Brunnthal clearing islands, are far too short to place systems there.

Only the forest remains.

But because many reject a location in the forest landscape protection and local recreation area and there is no uniform opinion in Kern's CSU for a long time, a controversial discussion and an exciting vote should be on Wednesday.

Windkraft Hofoldinger Forst: So it goes on

The municipalities and districts of ARGE Windkraft are currently in the decision-making phase as to whether they want to continue the project in principle and agree to a change in the landscape protection area ordinance. Sauerlach and Otterfing have already agreed (we reported). According to the ARGE's press release, the next steps would then be to change the Landscape Protection Area Ordinance of the district of Munich, which so far does not provide for the construction of wind turbines, and the establishment of an operating company. At the same time, the application under the Federal Immission Control Act could be submitted. If these steps were taken in 2021, approval would be expected in the second half of 2022 at the earliest. Before submitting a specific application for the construction of wind turbines, however, the citizens should be fully informed and involved. Due to the corona pandemic, it is currently not possible to hold larger information events. Alternatives, such as hybrid information events, are currently being examined. mm
