The legacies of horses and dogs are a nuisance to many people.

Dogs running freely also often cause discussions, as now on Tuesday in the Kochler municipal council.

Kochel am See - The discussion was initiated by Markus Greiner (Young List).

Previously, the municipal council had again approved various changes of use with renovation measures for a riding stables in town.

Greiner said that there are “more and more horses” in the community and asked whether it would be possible to identify separate routes for the riders, because after all the legacies are not exactly small.

Trouble with horse manure and dog poo

Mayor Thomas Holz (CSU) referred to a conversation that the community had three years ago with all horse farm operators in the community.

Since then, the situation has improved considerably, also with regard to the prohibited galloping on hiking trails.

A separate “trail” for horses was not wanted by the riders at the time.

The fact that there are always “heaps” on hiking trails and sidewalks cannot be avoided, said Holz, and in this context appealed to the riders to take care of their horses.

Greiner then turned to the subject of dogs.

In lively words, he described how free-roaming dogs behaved in the moss and demanded action from the community.

"I understand the problem.

But we are not a law enforcement agency and we cannot chase after every dog owner, ”said Holz.

Here, too, one can only appeal - but one must also bear in mind that a dog has an urge to move.

Greiner demanded that the surveillance be carried out by the nature conservation watch (this is the task of the mountain rescue service, editor's note).

"They are responsible for protecting the meadow breeders," replied Holz.

"If we see problems, we speak to dog owners, but we can't go after every dog," said Florian Lantenhammer (CSU).

Demand: the community should employ "dog watchers"

Greiner, on the other hand, found that the entire dog-keeping ordinance for the community "didn't bring anything".

He demanded that the administration should employ a “dog monitor” (“People can no longer move because of the fucking dogs”) or that the “police buy bikes so that they can drive into the moss”.

The mayor made it clear that he found Greiner's choice of words and his demeanor extremely strange.

Max Leutenbauer (CSU) said that there are always things that the community cannot control: "Motorbikes that are too loud, cars that are too fast."

There are currently 200 dogs in Kochel

There are currently around 200 dogs in Kochel, according to the administration, as many as last year.

Dogs with a height of 50 centimeters or more must be kept on a leash on public streets and squares.

If a dog poses a danger, you should call the police, said Holz on Wednesday in an interview with our newspaper.

The community would be very active, for example, if the owner violated obligations.

The administration has already made it compulsory several times, and fines can also be imposed.

However, it is always about examining the individual case, says Holz.

He again appealed to dog owners and pedestrians: “It must be possible to make a living on walking and hiking trails.” There are currently no increased dog complaints in the town hall.
