The former head of the Italian government Matteo Renzi received on Wednesday March 3 an envelope with two firearm casings, an intimidation denounced immediately by the entire political class.

The envelope was deposited directly in Rome at the seat of the Senate, of which Renzi is a member, according to AGI citing parliamentary sources, and it appears that it did not contain a written message.
All parties, from the League (far right) to the 5 Star Movement (M5S, anti-system before coming to power), including Forza Italia (right) and the Democratic Party (center-left), expressed their solidarity with the former Prime Minister (2014-2016).
Mr Renzi, who sparked a political crisis in January by blowing up the coalition of then head of government Giuseppe Conte, who was forced to resign, is now unpopular in Italy.
According to a poll carried out by Ipsos at the end of February for the main Italian daily Il Corriere della Sera, on a list of 12 political figures, the first place goes to the Minister of Health Roberto Speranza with 40% favorable opinions and the last to Matteo Renzi with only 12% of favorable opinions.
