It is often said that young people have unlimited creativity, but how can they be used?

Zeng Zinuo (Nok), who is currently studying the Engineering Department of Vocational College International Course (VB), teamed up with several like-minded students to participate in an innovative environmental protection design competition organized by the industry. "Smart Water Shower" won the third place among more than 200 participating colleges.

Angelo Chen, another VB design course, actively participated in a number of open design competitions and won numerous excellent results during the period.

Nok and Angelo both agreed that the teaching of international courses in vocational colleges emphasizes interactive practice. Through the project-based learning mode, they can do everything from conceptual design, group discussion to completion of the work in the learning process. " "Follow hands and settle down" flexibly practice classroom theory and knowledge.

Putting Project-based Learning into Practice Students' performance in the open competition was affirmed

When Nok was in junior high school, he hoped to break out of the inherent learning frame, develop his own interests, and choose to enroll in the Youth College (International Course)-Vocational International Course.

Different from the main teaching textbook theory in middle schools, Nok believes that VB courses allow students to explore new knowledge more independently, and use both hands and brains to achieve learning goals.

"Through the experiments/tests in the classroom, I can understand complex theories without rote memorization, making the learning process more interesting." Speaking of participating in a large-scale competition for the first time at the end of last year, Nok and his classmates agreed that this was a valuable Experience, let them taste and practice what they have learned.

"The teacher told us that after an international technology company held an innovative plan competition, they decided to form a team with their classmates. Participants need to design innovative plans to promote environmental awareness and a green life attitude. The teacher suggested that we start from our daily life and think about how to save energy. After careful research, we found that Hong Kong’s daily water consumption per capita is one of the highest in the world, so we decided to use smart technology to design an "environmentally friendly smart water shower" system to reduce water consumption during bathing."

The device they developed allows users to choose different "water saving" modes through a mobile phone application, automatically calculates and controls the water flow, and the mobile phone application also records water consumption habits, which helps enhance users' awareness of "saving water".

In addition, the device uses water flow to generate electricity to power the smart shower without consuming additional electricity.

During the preparation period, Nok and his team members fully applied the knowledge of mechanical design and control system learned in the classroom, and used 3D printers to make prototypes (design prototypes) and parts, and then repeated tests and improvements to greatly enhance the integrity of the work. Make them more confident when introducing design concepts to the judges in the competition.

Through participating in open competitions and class-based project studies, Nok learns not only engineering expertise, but also enhances independent learning, problem-solving skills and teamwork capabilities.

"Each school year, the teacher will let us try different topics for study. My classmates and I have used color detection technology to design a machine that can automatically distinguish colors for chocolate beans to test the programming and machine operation principles. The process is very Interesting. The teacher also encourages students to put forward different suggestions and discuss the best design plan together." In the VB classroom, there is a good relationship between teachers and students, and the teacher will also understand the strengths and characteristics of students from it, and help students explore the development of learning and further studies. Whereabouts.

As soon as he graduates, Nok has received Conditional Offer from the Civil Engineering Departments of the University of Bristol and University of Leeds in the United Kingdom. It is hoped that this year, Nok can enter the college of his choice and practice his ideals.

VB introduces technology to assist teaching. The teacher uses a robotic arm (left) to explain the color censor. The students then practice what they have learned in the project study and make a machine that can automatically distinguish the color of chocolate beans (right).

I love product design and practice what I have learned through open competitions

And another classmate, Angelo Chen, is taking a VB design course, and it is his parents who are working as designers who encouraged him to enter the course.

"Dad thinks that the VB teaching method can help me to be creative, and the school's professional teaching settings are comparable to the working environment. Therefore, my parents support me very much to transfer to VB courses after finishing junior high school." Angelo also learned 3D design through project studies in class , Media technology and design materials, and other design knowledge, live learning and application: "Earlier, under the guidance of the teacher, I used the laser cutting machine in the school to make a personal style headphone holder. I still use it at home every day."

Angelo uses a laser cutting machine to make the headphone holder in the seminar.

The young Angelo bluntly said that he likes to learn from others through open competitions to improve his creativity and design level.

Recently, Angelo won the Merit Award in the "Taiwan ND Design Superstar Award" and the "Hong Kong Smart Design Awards" competitions with his electric motorcycle and eco-friendly chair designs.

"Every time I participate in the competition, I will conduct in-depth data collection, from conception, design to 3D drawing, material selection, color spraying, communication with manufacturers, etc., all "kick" personally arranged, so that I can do everything in the process. The design concept of VB is made into a product that can meet the needs of users. It is very satisfying. I feel that I have grown a lot during my VB study."

Angelo has participated in many overseas and local design competitions, and recently won Taiwan and local design awards for his electric motorcycle (left) and eco-friendly chair (right).

Speaking of future development, he currently plans to apply for an overseas or local university architecture department after graduation next year. In the future, he will have the opportunity to personally participate in the design of characteristic buildings and gradually realize his dream.

Vocational and technical international courses are now enrolling students. It is suitable for completing secondary three or above in the same journal. Register now until noon on March 11th, and you will be able to arrange an interview in March
