Acting State Attorney has ruled that there is no evidence to prosecute the Likud MK on suspicion of threatening Spokesman Zohar: "I have no sense of joy or relief"

Acting State Attorney Amit Isman decided today (Wednesday) to close the investigation file against MK Makhlouf Miki Zohar, on the combined ground of "lack of evidence" and "the totality of the circumstances of the case does not justify prosecution."
In his decision, Isman adopted the recommendation of the Central District Attorney (Criminal), Rachel Avishar, and the recommendations of the Deputy State Attorney (special positions), Nurit Litman, and the Deputy Attorney General (Public-Constitutional Law), Raz Nazri, according to which the case should be closed.
MK Zohar was questioned with a warning, after speaking out on a radio interview that raised a reasonable suspicion of extortion by threats against the Attorney General.
"After examining the evidence and discussing all the relevant factors, the Deputy State Attorney, as stated, decided to close the case. In his decision, it was stated that in the evidence there is difficulty in proving the mental basis of the offense, meaning that Knesset member Zohar threatened the spokesman. To resign and dismiss the indictments against the Prime Minister.
It was also stated in the decision that it is doubtful whether MK Zohar's remarks were directed at the ombudsman himself, so that he could hear and do, or whether they were aimed at his constituents and listeners, for political purposes in particular, "the prosecution said.
MK Zohar responded and wrote: "The investigation file against me has been closed, but I have no sense of joy or relief. There was nothing in this investigation other than another attempt by the State Attorney's Office to deter us, the elected representatives, through a silence investigation. The investigation against me was a moment of great depression. "On any democratic scale, a moment will be won by the State Attorney's Office and its leaders in light of their treatment of elected officials in general and those elected from the right in particular."
