The crisis has derailed the trajectory of public debt

From this long year of crisis, public finances are emerging groggy.

To preserve households and support businesses as much as possible, the state has chosen, according to the presidential doctrine of "whatever the cost" to largely absorb the economic shock.

A little less than 200 billion have therefore disappeared under the effect of health restrictions.

Initially, the executive estimated that the pandemic would cost the state 186 billion euros in 2020 (86 billion exceptional spending and 100 billion lost tax revenue).

The bill should ultimately be less salty by around 30 billion.

Estimated at 49 billion euros, the Social Security deficit finally stood at 38.9 billion.

As for the aid actually spent by the State last year, they amount to 66 billion euros (and not 86 billion) earmarked for the device.
