The pandemic is also causing a wave of rejections in Jesenwang.

Four events cannot take place on the scheduled date.

But everyone is hoping for replacement dates this year - even when putting up the maypole.

Jesenwang -

Actually the day is irrevocable: On May 1st the maypole is put up.

Point.

But there could be an October tree in Jesenwang this year.

The pandemic may not make it possible, but it may be necessary.

"The boys' association is thinking about putting the tree up on October 3rd," reported Mayor Erwin Fraunhofer (CSU / BG) at the latest meeting of the local council.

This was also confirmed by his son and parliamentary colleague Markus Fraunhofer, who is the lads' secretary.

The course of the pandemic naturally also plays a major role for the alternative date.

First of all, events with the envisaged size of around 200 visitors must be possible again.

Since on October 3rd, the day of German reunification, the classic car meeting at the Jesenwang airfield attracts up to 10,000 people in normal times, the restrictions must not be completely lifted.

Because the erection of the tree should not be a competition to the big event.

The development remains exciting not only for the maypole friends.

The fans of the Easter bonfire can still hope for a big fire - if Corona allows events in June.

Then a midsummer bonfire could be held as a replacement for the Easter event.

Furthermore, the community's Ramadama and the public assembly planned for April 13th were canceled for the time being.

According to Mayor Fraunhofer, the latter is “impossible to carry out in person”.

The government will allow citizens' assemblies to be replaced by digital formats again in 2021.

But the town hall chief does not want to stiffen up on that yet.

He keeps track of appointments in summer and fall for both the congregation and Ramadama.
