The "abusive teacher" case: The State

Attorney's Office demands that Carmel be sentenced to between 12 and 16 years in prison.

This emerges from the hearing held today (Thursday) in the Central District Court as part of the sentencing arguments phase.

As you may recall, Meuda, the director of the "Baby Love" kindergarten in Rosh HaAyin, was convicted last December of abusing toddlers.

At this stage of the discussions, several parents of the injured children came up one after the other.

Before the hearing began, the parents staged a protest outside the court and greeted the defendant with derogatory cries.

One of the mothers fainted, was treated on the spot and then entered the courtroom and went up to testify.

Meuda's defense attorney, Adv. Shiran Bergman, asked the court to address the issue of protest: "I feel like a worn-out record. We are at a critical stage and I am receiving a demonstration in which the defendant was cursed. It is important that the court explain to parents what is customary." this".

The judge addressed the parents and noted "I want to respect the procedure. It is conducted and the status must be respected."

Defense counsel noted at the beginning of the hearing that the test surveys were received, which he said were laden with information.

According to him, due to the large amount of material, he could not prepare for the argument of the polls and asked for another discussion.

Judge Ami Kubo replied that a review of the surveys does not reveal theoretical material information and in the surveys, according to him, what determines are the facts.

He ruled that everything would be held in this hearing.

Defense counsel replied that it harmed him in protecting his client.

At the end, the judge ruled that the parents' testimonies would be heard today, and regarding another hearing, the defense attorney will submit a request and will actually consider his position.

The prosecution stated on the other hand that it has no objection to the court determining in accordance with the law, but that it is important that "the verdict be made in accordance with the facts of the indictment."

Talia, whose son was among the victims, first testified: "When I put him in kindergarten, I put him in a place of trust in the kindergarten teacher. I went to the fact of trust and after several months I got a call twice a month that the child had a fever and it was not and was not created. I was not informed, she also said that she knew I was going to take the son for a drop of milk, so there was no point in notifying.

"The boy does not crawl and does not play, just cries. I sent a message to Carmel. What happened in kindergarten? And she replied that the boy got up on his left foot ... Then on the day the affair broke, one of the girls celebrated a birthday in kindergarten and my child turned out to be locked in a dark room with a gate. "A clinical communication therapist in a psychological occupation and there is a delay in crawling. He crawls on his stomach. In one of the videos, it appears that Carmel drags him off his leg. To this day, he drags this leg with you. Our house has not returned to being the same house."

Einav, another mother of a toddler: "The 11-month-old girl would come home hungry and sometimes eat four omelets and I did not understand why she was so bad when the affair exploded I was in divorce proceedings and I would take her to work with me she would defecate even though she was previously rewarded. But at the end of the day she is in special education with lip problems punishing herself.

"In kindergarten she says she should be a soldier and they should not shout at her when she pees on herself. She has speech problems. She does not progress. She calls herself a flower and asks that she not be put in a corner. She remembers everything. She beats other children. She strangles herself with a diaper and I explain not doing so. She beats dolls. "

Moriah, another mother: "The son was three months old and had to be cared for for two years. He was with Carmel and there were no signs. At the age of one he underwent abdominal surgery and was not allowed to injure him there and they also ruled that he should not eat salt. In the second year he had hair loss. The difference we did was test him and the salt level was high.

"The boy stood by the bed in the dark and did not move. I told him he could go out and he did not move. One day he stepped on his brother's head like that for no reason. The wall. Is it love that showered on him? He tried to strangle his little sister with a diaper and pushed bread into her mouth like a doll mower. When he went to the new kindergarten he would not talk. There was a lot of confinement at home and then he started talking, I understand. In kindergarten he is lonely and beating. "I can not leave him alone for a shower. Most of the time he sleeps with me and asks not to be. When something falls to the floor, he cleans up quickly so that they do not beat him. I ask the court to put an end to this, I can no longer."

Nicole, the mother of two toddlers who were together in kindergarten "For two years now I have been following this sentence in every discussion. A broken presence crashes. I hear everything that is talked about my children. I hear about the terrible days that passed there. You see videos of my child. It hurts and cries.

"And I as a mother beat myself every day for what I missed. How did I not see? How did I not know? My children were just letters in the indictment and for two years I could not speak. Today I finally give my children the place they deserve in this wheel of justice. We are still going through a difficult time. Of Carmel donkey and its consequences are disastrous. No one can assure me whether my children will remember it or not, psychology is divided on this matter. My children forever will probably not be who they are supposed to be, full of fear and distrust towards everyone in the beginning, even "To us parents. My child was tied up behind his back for 35 minutes and then released and tied up again with his hands behind his back for more than an hour."
