“Transaction canceled” It is thanks to this manipulation at the cash desk that two salespeople in a BuY Paris duty free shop in terminal 3 at Orly airport defrauded their business for several months.
But their scam has just ended.
The officials of the Border Police (PAF) of Orly arrested them this Thursday.
The two suspects are currently in custody at their premises.
They embezzled cash payments
According to our information, the amount of the damage is high: 40,000 euros.
And for good reason: their system was formidably effective.
When a customer paid for his purchases with cash, the two store employees waited for him to leave and then canceled the transaction at the cash register.
Then all they had to do was recover the amount paid by the customer.
No cash error appeared since the sums deducted corresponded to the notes withdrawn.
In short: instead of putting the money in the cash register, they put it in their pocket.

This is information transmitted to the police and then an on-site check by their service which enabled the PAF to arrest the alleged crooks and put an end to their actions.
At the time of their arrest, the two sellers had several thousand euros in their possession.
Several duty-free shops are currently open in Orly despite the closure of almost all terminals and the low number of travelers due to the health crisis.
The activity of the airport there indeed fell by 66.1% in 2020. Only one terminal - the 3 - is currently open as well as part of Orly 2.
