The quantities of winter vegetable crops produced in Al-Hasakah governorate and marketed in its markets reached 24 thousand and 431 tons of various varieties.
The Director of Agriculture and Agrarian Reform in Al-Hasakah, Engineer Rajab Salama, said in a statement to SANA's correspondent that the production of most of the winter vegetable varieties has ended, with the exception of the beans and garlic crops, which will continue to be produced until the middle of next month, indicating that the governorate’s production of vegetables during the winter season was good and contributed to providing a large part of the need. Residents of these important foodstuffs and the stability of their prices.
With regard to the cultivation of summer vegetable crops, Salameh indicated that the cultivation process continues in light of good demand by the governorate's farmers and the increase in cultivated areas over what was planned and the cultivated areas during the last season, which will contribute to securing the governorate's need of various types of summer vegetables and fruits.
It is noteworthy that the area cultivated with winter vegetable crops for the current season amounted to 4,854 hectares distributed over the various areas of agricultural stability in Al-Hasakah Governorate.
