Erding - Spring stimulates the job market in the Erding district.

The unemployment rate fell slightly, but hundreds of training positions are still vacant.

Spring has arrived, with positive effects on unemployment: In April, it fell in all four districts of the Freising Employment Agency's district.

In addition to Erding, this also includes Freising, Ebersberg and Dachau.

In the district of Erding, the rate fell by 0.2 to 2.6 percent compared to March.

In the entire district it is 2.7 percent (March: 2.9%).

The Erding Employment Agency counted 2,206 unemployed in April. That is 131 people fewer than in March. For comparison: in April 2020 the rate was 2.4 percent, in April 2019 - i.e. in the year before the Corona crisis - a rate of 1.7 percent was calculated for the Erding district. Overall, however, the number of unemployed is still well above the level of the pre-crisis years.

In the past few weeks, the typical seasonal relief has become noticeable on the labor market, explains Katja Kürmaier, Deputy Head of the Freising Employment Agency: “Men in particular benefited from the spring upswing, as they are increasingly involved in the construction, roofing, horticulture and landscaping and have now been able to return to their jobs. ”In general, the companies recently reported 124 vacancies in the district.

In April there were a total of 692 job offers in the job pool.

A closer look at the figures reveals that the companies are primarily looking for qualified workers.

"We assume that this demand - also in the course of advancing digitization - will continue to grow," says Kürmaier.

Short-time working in the district has decreased.

It supports the labor market.

At the beginning of the pandemic in April 2020, 876 companies with 11,872 employees were affected, but the number is now significantly fewer.

However, according to the employment agency, the latest figures for the district come from November.

At that time, there were actually short working hours in 510 companies.

8,032 employees were affected, said Kürmaier.

For the training market, she draws a sobering interim balance.

In April, 400 of the 674 apprenticeship positions registered in autumn were still available.

In other words, almost two thirds have not yet been filled.

On the other hand, 226 out of 444 young people have not yet found what they are looking for a training position.

For comparison: In the Freising district the unemployment rate in April was 2.9 percent (- 0.1%), in Ebersberg it was 2.5 (- 0.1) and in Dachau it was 2.8 (- 0.2).
