Mother's Day is a day when a family gathers together and celebrates warmly, but not every generation is so lucky.

Life in Hong Kong was difficult in the 1950s. Many parents were forced to raise their children because of their inability to raise their children. Abandoned babies appeared on the streets from time to time.

Kim and Linda, who are now living overseas and have reached the age of ears, were abandoned on the street within a few days of their birth that year. They were later admitted to orphanages and then sent to other families for adoption.

Their fate is similar, and they also hope to find their biological parents on Mother's Day.

Through online interviews, both said that they have never complained about their biological fathers and mothers. If they can meet, they just want to thank them for bringing themselves into this world. They also thank their parents for their difficult decisions that brought them a better life.

"Ma Jianzhi" abandoned in front of the Sham Shui Po Precious Blood Orphanage

Back to February 22, 1957, a baby girl was abandoned outside the gate of the Sham Shui Po Precious Blood Orphanage (currently known as Precious Blood Hospital) with a note on her body saying: "Ma Jianzhi, there are already many brothers and sisters." The baby girl was later adopted by an orphanage until she was 8 years old.

One day, the girl from the orphanage brought Ma Jianzhi and other orphans to the airport, but never revealed the destination. Ma Jianzhi got on the plane and went to New Zealand, where she was adopted by a local farming couple.

The adoptive parents gave Ma Jianzhi a new name "Kim".

Today, Kim has a good year, but she still remembers when she first came to a foreign country when she was a child, it was difficult to adapt to the changes, and she cried constantly.

She recalled that at that time, she and her adoptive parents were living in a small agricultural town. There were no other Asian faces in the town, and she had been excluded by classmates because of the difference on campus.

Although it is not easy to grow up in a foreign country, Kim said that he was very fortunate to be able to grow up under the love of his adoptive parents. After he grew up, he organized his own family. Today, there are two children, two daughters, and five grandchildren. Life is very happy. .

But Kim still hopes to find his biological parents. She said, "Everyone wants to find their roots and hope to find the answer."

Never resented and said thank you is the greatest wish

In fact, Kim has been trying to find his biological parents since he was a little boy, and he has been searching for four to fifty years on and off.

She said that the adoptive parents were also very supportive, and the two even made a special trip to Hong Kong in the 1970s, hoping to find more clues, but they failed.

What puzzled Kim during the tracing process was the two remaining documents, the birth certificate and the baptism certificate, with different birth dates, which were December 27, 1956 and February 15, 1957.

In order to understand the mystery of his life experience, Kim tried to apply to the social welfare departments of New Zealand and Hong Kong for more information. He also tried the gene matching database and posted his information on the family-finding website look4mama.com.

The Sham Shui Po Precious Blood Orphanage was built in Precious Blood Hospital in the 1950s, and only the hospital is still operating on the original site.
