During the first quarter of the year,
the National Government invested about 6,500 million
of pesos for tourism to continue standing. Facing the second wave of COVID-19 and to support about 4 thousand monotributistas and self-employed workers, the Ministry of Tourism and Sports of the Nation carried out the fourth stage of the Aid Fund for Tourism Providers (APTur), with a investment of $ 114 million. In addition, that ministry, together with the Productive Development Ministry and the National Bank, provided more than 1,100 zero-rate loans for tourism SMEs with the MiPyMEs certificate. That meant expanding the total amount of the financing line to $ 4 billion. The zero rate was subsidized by the National Fund for Productive Development (FONDEP) up to quota 12, and from 18% from quota 13 to 24, with 100% endorsement by the Argentine Guarantee Fund.
More than 65 thousand workers from 4 thousand companies in the sector
were benefited monthly by the REPRO II Productive Recovery Program, after an investment of $ 2.3 billion, in the first quarter of the year. On the other hand, 19 thousand employees from 900 companies also received the complementary allocation to REPRO II in March, after an investment of $ 76 million.
The ministry led by Matías Lammens promotes these measures to support the sector that are complemented by other reactivation initiatives, such as the “50 Destinations” plan. In April, the second stage of this program was launched, which aims to improve infrastructure in destinations at the federal level, which will generate more works and jobs. Last year, the program included projects to carry out 85 tourism infrastructure works in consolidated locations and emerging destinations, allocating more than $ 1.2 billion and generating more than 3,500 direct and indirect jobs in all provinces. In 2021 the continuation of this development plan was announced with an investment of $ 1,500 million, “We are convinced of the capacity of the sector in terms of generating foreign exchange and employment. We have the firm conviction in the Government of the importance that tourism has and can have in the coming years. When we turn the page on the pandemic, tourism will be the protagonist ”, assures the Minister of Tourism and Sports of the Nation, Matías Lammens.
