Daraa-Sana
The Agricultural Scientific Research Center in Daraa began harvesting experiments on wheat, barley, and food and forage legumes, which were conducted at the beginning of the current agricultural season.
The head of the Agricultural Scientific Research Center, Dr. Sultan Al-Yahya, said in a statement to SANA reporter that the harvesting of wheat and barley is done automatically and for food and forage legumes manually, indicating that the initial results indicate the superiority of drought-resistant varieties such as Sham 5 and Hourani and all the strains that are included in its composition.
Al-Yahya indicated that drought, lack of rain, and high temperatures during the month of April, from five to ten degrees above the general average, negatively affected production and led to the atrophy of grains and a decrease in their specific weight in the Izra plant and the second settlement areas and some of the first stable areas.
The research center conducted, within its stations in Izraa and Glen, about 137 agricultural research and experiments in the current season, with the aim of developing high-yielding varieties that are superior to local varieties resistant to diseases and insects, and their grains with excellent technological specifications.
