Vaccidrive in Seine-Saint-Denis: we tested for you, getting vaccinated while driving your car

Accessible only by car, the Villepinte vaccination center (Seine-Saint-Denis) opened a week ago. So get going

This time it's my turn.

After having questioned dozens of people vaccinated or about to be vaccinated, I am about to receive my first injection of Pfizer at the Vaccidrive at the Villepinte exhibition center.

In Seine-Saint-Denis, 22.7% of the population is now vaccinated, according to the latest data posted online by Health Insurance.

This does not prevent a little apprehension.

In front of the “vaccination space” sign, I switch off the engine of my car and listen to the planes flying low over the huge parking lot of the exhibition center.

The atmosphere is peaceful, relaxed.

From Bagnolet, it took me half an hour to reach Villepinte, relying on the “vaccidrive” signs on the edge of the A104.

At 11:57 am, I crossed the barrier of the vaccination center managed by the Primary Health Insurance Fund (CPAM) of 93. Only one car was already in line on my line.

Very quickly, two others line up behind me.

To my right, a motorist seems to be in the middle of a debate with an agent of the CPAM.

He does not seem decided to be vaccinated but ends up telling her "Are you doing it then?"

And by rolling up his shirt sleeve.

Just a few more minutes of waiting and it's my turn.

Barely enough time to slip in an "I'm afraid" that it's already over

For the second time, they ask me if I have ever had the Covid and they make sure that I am in good health.

There, I can not go back, it is the hour of the injection.

I turn slightly to offer my right shoulder to the outside and I barely have time to slip a shy "I'm afraid" that it's already over.

It is 12:23, so I will have waited 25 minutes before receiving "my dose".

I roll a few meters to reach the space where everyone waits fifteen minutes in their car, under observation. I feel like I have a hot flash. But what an idea to go get vaccinated on the first sunny day after a month of rain. This is because I have just thought about the instructions given before the vaccination: “When you wait, don't forget to open your windows and unlock the doors just in case. Uh… But in case what?

The director of Vaccidrive reassures me immediately: of the 5,000 people vaccinated since the opening, only ten have activated the procedure for calling for help, namely a sound of the horn. For all of them, a few words of reassurance and, sometimes, a little compote were enough to dispel the feeling of unease that had invaded them. After the statutory fifteen minutes, I leave with my bandage on my shoulder and, in mind, the instructions to follow in case of side effects.
