According to a current forecast, the municipality of Poing will grow by 28 percent by 2035.

From now 16,700 to around 21,300 inhabitants.

Poing - Right at the beginning of the presentation of the population forecast in the Poing municipal council meeting, Heike Pethe says a remarkable sentence: "The high school for Poing is the right decision." The construction of the grammar school is still pending due to the norms control action brought by the neighboring community of Pliening against the building areas W7 and W8.

There is currently no time for the start of construction, let alone for the opening.

Poing: Increase especially in high school age

A grammar school for around 1000 pupils is planned and is to be built in Lerchenwinkel (new building area W7) north of Bergfeldstrasse (not far from the Seewinkel Center).

According to Heike Pethe, the continuation of the population forecast for the municipality of Poing until 2035 shows that there is a need for a grammar school. Pethe is from the Office for Spatial Development in Munich and has now presented the forecast to the local council.

According to the calculations, the number of children and young people of high school age (10 to 17 years) will increase from 1525 (in 2020) to 1980 (2035).

The number of children and adolescents of middle school age (10 to 14 years) is also increasing - from 1025 (2020) to 1270 (2034).

Growth extends across all generations

The growth applies equally to toddlers, kindergarten children, elementary school children and adults.

No wonder, with the two still outstanding new development areas W7 and W8, in which living space will be created for around 2000 people each, as well as with other construction activities, the population of the municipality of Poing will increase to 20,000 (currently: around 16,700).

The office for spatial development assumes that the mark will be reached in the years 2028 to 2030.

Then, according to the calculations, it continues.

By 2035, the office predicts an increase of a total of 4600 inhabitants (corresponds to 28 percent), which would mean 21,300 in the result.

The strongest growth is predicted for high school age, with an increase of up to 30 percent (absolute: 455 children and adolescents aged 10 to 17 years).

Note: A category “Realschule age” is not given in the forecast.

The current and now presented population and child requirement forecast (that is the official title) is the basis for the work of the municipality and the municipal council now and in the years to come. In the summary, Heike Pethe writes that in the municipality of Poing there is a “very good care infrastructure with sufficient space” until 2025 for after-school care and lunch care and until 2028 for crèche, kindergarten and all-day school. According to the study, there is sufficient space in the primary and secondary schools (the municipality is responsible for them, the district of Ebersberg is responsible for the secondary schools and the special education support center).

In addition, it says in the conclusion that a “significant growth in the number of children and young people in Poing” can be expected by 2035. It is not for nothing that Poing is one of the youngest and most child-rich communities in Germany.
