The Haimhausen cultural district held its first concert after the forced Corona break.
“Zydeco Annie & Swamp Cats” swept their audience away.
Haimhausen - The loading ramp bathed in colored light on the currently disused site of the Haimhausen Castle Brewery has proven to be the ideal stage for an open-air concert.
With their “Rendezvouz à New Orleans”, “Zydeco Annie & Swamp Cats” abducted the audience seated at tables and benches with due distance to the US southern states.
With their specially composed songs, the band sparked a firework of colorful joie de vivre, yearning devotion and pulsating energy. In Dorfstrasse, the large audience, not only from Haimhausen, thought they were in the middle of “Bourbon Street”. The music alternated between pounding Zydeco, traditional Cajun, soulful blues and grooves like from the "Mardi Gras".
The lively "Annie" Anja Baldauf delighted with her virtuoso accordion playing, sometimes sat at the piano or started the single-row melodion. Singer Frederic Berger performed her compositions with his own French-English texts. He sometimes worked on the original washboard with a broom, sometimes he played guitar, drum or triangle with it. Helt Oncale, born and raised in New Orleans, is a masterly master of fiddle and guitar. He enriched the happy Zydeco rhythms in a way that made the heartbeat of Louisiana palpable. Marco Piludu on electric bass and Anja's husband Stefan Baldauf on drums provided rousing beats.
On a wonderful summer evening, the audience was delighted with the immense joy of playing of the musicians, who were able to perform live for the first time after eight months of lock-down and visibly enjoyed it.
With the statement by Anja Baldauf "... such an emotional evening ..." and the confidence "... it goes on ..." as well as the request "this is not sitting music ..." the trip to New Orleans ended with a dance for all visitors.
Of course, the musicians weren't let go without an encore.
