Gendarmes and police were present this weekend to control and ensure the proper conduct of wild parties across the territory. The festivities were generally held in peace.

Notwithstanding the alarming progression of the Delta variant of Covid-19 across the country, summer continues its course and with it, the desire for many to return to normal life, to the life before.

If nightclubs have been allowed since Friday to welcome again the public, many revelers have opted this weekend for wild gatherings in the open air, requiring the installation of important police devices to ensure that no overflow do not come taint the party.

Several rave parties and “Project X” evenings were organized all over the country, mainly in the North West departments. In La Baule, Loire-Atlantique, some 400 young people responded to a call on social media on Saturday, France Bleu reported. Equipped with large speakers, smoke bombs and distress flares, the revelers gathered on the beach at nightfall and left it in the early morning this Sunday without the police having to intervene. About thirty police officers were deployed in the area, including about twenty CRS as well as several agents of the Anti-Crime Brigade (BAC), accompanied by dogs. A single reveler was arrested for manifest intoxication on the public highway and spent the night in a drunken cell.

The day before, another evening bringing together 300 individuals had degenerated into a clash with the police.

The police had come under fireworks and mortar fire.

They had been forced to use tear gas canisters and LBD fire to disperse the crowd.

About forty kilometers further inland, in Drefféac, a rave party also bringing together several hundred people began on Saturday evening a little after midnight.

The revelers gathered on private land, rented for the event.

This Sunday noon, the party was still underway.

The police are on site to monitor and control individuals leaving the premises.

Attempts to organize wild parties foiled by the gendarmes

In the south of France, on the beach of Grand-Crohot in Lège-Cap-Ferret (Gironde), nearly a thousand ravers were turned back by the gendarmes on Saturday evening while a call for a wild party had been launched on social media by a DJ earlier in the week, the regional daily Sud Ouest reported. The party had also been the subject of a prefectural ban, which mentioned the health and natural risks (forest fire, drowning ...) linked to the lack of organization. The gendarmes invited a hundred vehicles to turn around near the site.

Saturday morning, the gendarmes of the company of Montbrison, in La Loire, had also surprised a dozen individuals installing sound equipment for a rave party near Saint-Bonnet-le-Courreau.

“They are undoubtedly the vanguard of participants in a big rave party.

It is difficult to say how many people could have converged on the chosen place
