For around 1.15 million euros, the municipality of Gräfelfing wants to implement better noise protection in certain areas on the A 96.
The planned tunnel renovation of the Autobahn GmbH will benefit her.
Gräfelfing
- The noise abatement at the west portal of the Tunnesl is only a fragment of the possible overall measures along the A 96 in Gräfelfing, which a feasibility study showed years ago.
But the opportunity to implement it is favorable, and the municipality wants to seize it in order to finally achieve a tangible, structural improvement in the noise protection on the motorway that has cut through the town for decades.
The Autobahn GmbH (formerly: Autobahndirektion Südbayern) is known to plan to renovate the Gräfelfingen autobahn tunnel, which actually consists of a number of bridge structures. The reinforced concrete from the early 1970s is ailing. The municipality wants to get involved in this extensive, lengthy construction work (shotcrete from below, new waterproofing from above), which will begin in 2022. This saves costs of up to two million euros compared to going it alone.
The plan is to extend the noise barriers on both sides in the west, which end well before the tunnel mouth, to the tunnel and also to raise them 3.5 meters high on the bridge parapet on Maria-Eich-Straße - here made transparent.
In addition, the municipality wants to line the tunnel walls in the west with sound-absorbing, perforated aluminum elements over a length that corresponds to twice the width of the carriageway - instead of the echoing, smooth tiles.
And finally, the overall package includes a renewal of the whispered asphalt after the construction work has been completed and attempts to achieve a fixed radar system and speed harmonization.
Markus Staller from the Suess-Staller-Schmitt office explained the structural project to the committee for the environment, energy and mobility on Thursday, and Andrea Höcker from Möhler und Partner gave a lecture on the acoustic analysis.
She called the reduction of 15 dB at the nearest house "enormous" and recommended the implementation as sensible, but made no secret of the fact that "these noise barriers do nothing at a distance of 100 meters".
Mayor Peter Köstler said: "This does not solve the entire noise problem in Graefelfing, but it is a massive improvement in the immediate vicinity." The community should take this opportunity in any case.
Autobahn GmbH is open to a parallel, coordinated approach.
The local councils did not want to ignore this and unanimously recommended the further planning of the project.
