The Chamber of Commerce and Industry (IHK) will go into its next five-year term of office with the same chairman of the Weilheim-Schongau regional committee: Klaus Bauer, Managing Director of the Bauer Group in Weilheim, was confirmed almost unanimously as chairman.
- "I was very pleased, especially because there were often several candidates in other districts and many people critical of the Chamber of Industry and Commerce had positioned themselves," said the 66-year-old, who has already announced that it will be his last term of office will be.
Bauer, who has been on the committee since 1988, took over the chairmanship of the committee from the retired Herbert Klein in 2018.
Larger proportion of women on the board
Bauer is satisfied with the choice, both in terms of the distribution of the occupational groups and the regional distribution - and of course the women's quota: After only one woman, Josefine Vogl, was elected to the committee in 2016, all five women who were among the 26th Candidates had made the jump to the 17-strong committee. Even if the female quota of 29 percent is certainly not outstanding - "We have never had such a high percentage since I've been there," says Bauer happily.
On the other hand, other long-standing members have not made the renewed leap into the entrepreneurial committee, for example Hans Medele from the car dealership of the same name in Weilheim.
A total of eight previous members have been newly elected, nine are new.
The new vice-chairmen are Monika Uhl from Penzberg, marketing expert and responsible for the national career orientation project “Training Compass”, and Ansgar Damm, managing director of Hoerbiger Antriebstechnik from Schongau.
Consultation with IHK in Garmisch planned
The new regional committee will not have its first meeting until after the summer break in autumn, but that is far too late for Bauer - he wants to take action now because of the upcoming federal election. "We are looking to talk to the candidates in order to talk to them about the topics that are important to us," said Bauer. Because the Weilheim constituency also includes the Garmisch-Partenkirchen district, they will certainly coordinate with the Garmisch IHK colleagues and start various campaigns, announced Bauer. "And it's not just about corona and climate protection, which are currently the dominant topics, but also about digitization," said Bauer.
