Abkhaz Foreign Minister Daur Kofi affirmed today that his country is working to deepen bilateral relations with Syria in a number of political, economic and cultural fields.
“We look forward to further building bilateral relations with Damascus,” Kofi said in a statement on the sidelines of the economic summit “Russia and the Islamic World,” noting that there is an active political dialogue between Abkhazia and Syria and official working visits between the two countries, in addition to the work of the Abkhazian embassy in Damascus.
Kofi added that "Abkhazia is actively developing mutually beneficial cooperation with Damascus in the commercial and economic fields, as well as in the cultural and humanitarian fields."
On October 6, 2020, an embassy of the Republic of Abkhazia was opened in Damascus to contribute to the development and strengthening of bilateral relations between the two countries in various fields.
