The tennis cracks of the STC Oberland experienced a turbulent final weekend: The "final" of the men's 30s at Wacker Munich was canceled, the regional league men lost their last match 4-5.
Wolfratshausen - The decision has been postponed. At HC Wacker Munich, the final of the state league championship with the men's 30 of the STC Oberland took place on Saturday. But a storm warning brought an early end to the tennis duel when the score was 4: 2. In fact, the guests had a hard time without top player Francesco Picco, who was in Italy for a family affair. Christoph Schramm and Philipp Henrich only won their singles in the champions tiebreak. Ruben Haug, Chris Hahn, Andreas Schneider and Daniel Hahn had to give their opponents the points. When the participants were getting ready for the doubles, the sky darkened so much that a continuation was out of the question. "In fact, ten minutes later the seats were under water," reports Chris Hahn.
But then it got complicated. According to the official match report sheet, Wacker criticized the fact that the STC did not start the doubles in time to wait for the rain and thus to postpone the games. Hahn contradicts this version: "We were on the pitch in time, but the weather was already too bad to start." The association now has to make a judgment, because in order to secure the championship, each team needs two colons . However, the question is whether the STC has to compete with the Saturday squad in a continuation or, for example, can bring Picco to it.
The last state league match of men against the relegation threatened TC Gauting was again a tight box. "Of course we wanted to win, but our friends from Gauting were really well positioned," reports the STC spokesman. Francesco Picco won his singles, but Ferdinand Klösters (1: 2 in the match tiebreaker) and Mattia Ghedin (0: 2) had a hard time against their opponents from Slovenia and Croatia. "Both played great, but their opponents had an answer in every situation," said Hahn. Andrea Fiorentini then lost his individual as did Niklas Vonthein before Yannick Maser scored for the STC.
In the doubles, the home side stepped up again.
Ghedin / Klösters in the match tie-break and Picco / Fiorentini won their duels before Vonthein / Sebastian Rupp lost.
However, despite their 5: 4 success, the Gautinger had to wait anxiously for the results of their direct competitors.
But after the positive news, nothing stood in the way of a joint end-of-season party with the STC cracks.
The men 40 of the syndicate would also have liked to celebrate.
They also completed a real final in the Super District League against the tied MTTC Iphitos Munich II. However, on that day they couldn't hold a candle to the flagship club from the state capital and lost 8-0.
