Unterföhring - The municipality of Unterföhring is holding a competition from August 2nd to September 5th to find a new form for the "Unterföhring Culture Prize".

All artists from the district are allowed to apply.

The community has been awarding the coveted Unterföhringer Culture Prize as an audience award since 2010.

The visitors to the cultural events rate the guest performances they have attended in the community center and its outdoor venues.

At the end of the year, the audience's favorite will be determined, who will be presented with a small sculpture and prize money when they appear again.

As reported, after intensive discussions, the community is now looking for a new form for the trophy.

So far, the figure was a black marble bust with the title "Unterföhringer Mohr".

The municipal council abolished the name as early as 2020.

Now a new form is to be found for the Unterföhringer Culture Prize.

Artists from the Munich district

The proposals are pre-sorted and then presented to the Unterföhringen municipal council for voting. The future price should show a clear reference to the municipality of Unterföhring. Size, weight and material should be chosen in such a way that long-lasting and easy storage is guaranteed, says Barbara Schulte-Rief, head of the cultural office. In addition, there must be a place for a lettering or a badge on which the year and name can be affixed.

The three best designs are to be rewarded with prize money of 1000 euros.

The winning design also receives prize money of 1,000 euros for the final implementation.

The duration of the competition extends from August 2, 2021 up to and including September 5, 2021. During this time frame, the competition documents can be submitted to the Unterföhring Cultural Office.

Audience favorites came from all branches

Incidentally, the past Unterföhringen Culture Prize winners include renowned ensembles and artists from all disciplines, including the Munich Bach Choir, Simone Solga and the Odyssey Dance Theater.

Most recently, the music cabaret artist Lars Redlich received the award in October 2020.
