Originally from Doubs, the hiker was leading a group of five people, including her husband, when she stumbled on a steep path in the Pointe du Mandallaz area.
She fell about 300 meters on her left, falling into the void on the Savoy side, in the town of Ugine.
Two rescuers from the Courchevel CRS as well as a doctor from the SMU used a civil security helicopter to get there but had to finish the way to the victim on foot due to the cloudy weather.
An investigation was opened to determine the circumstances of the accident.
