Residents around the Schwabach-Büchenbach airfield have felt annoyed by the noise for years.

Now the dispute could come to a head again.

Schwabach - For years, residents have repeatedly complained about the noise emanating from the Schwabach-Büchenbach airfield (near Nuremberg *).

Among other things, they accuse the pilots of not following the applicable rules - which they in turn deny.

As reported by

Bayerischer Rundfunk (BR)

, the dispute is now getting worse.

Schwabach: Residents speak of "permanent exposure" to airport noise

Among others, Gauchsdorf, Breitenlohe, Aurau and Götzenreuth are affected by the noise.

Residents have already formed an interest group and repeatedly complained about the noise.

"There are hours involved, we have between five and twelve starts," complained Gerhard Preißinger to the

BR

.

He lives in Götzenreuth.

His wife Ute agrees with him.

Sometimes you can no longer talk normally on the terrace at the weekend because of the aircraft noise, she explains.

The noise from the airport is a constant nuisance.

Schwabach: Air Office North Bavaria is examining the complaints

The Northern Bavaria Aviation Office is examining the numerous complaints.

So far, however, the residents have not had any success with their lawsuits.

The office found no violations.

The

BR

quotes

the Air Office

as saying that it was almost never possible to detect any misconduct on the part of the pilots

.

Why is that?

Gerhard Preißinger has a theory.

He suspects that some planes switch off their transponders, which means that the flight route is not recorded.

The Luftamt contradicts this, however: Even with the transponder switched off, the route can be traced.

Hans Rogenhofer, board member of the Schwabach Aviation Association, explained that the pilots are "very eager to deal with the problems of the residents".

There are up to 5,000 take-offs and landings at Schwabach-Büchenbach airfield every day.

They are well aware of the noise problem, said Rogenhofer.

Schwabach: New traffic area for planes

A new traffic pattern has been in effect at the airport since the beginning of August, which means that the planes fly past Götzenreuth and thus cause less noise.

Residents wanted to have flight-free days on the weekends - but this request was not granted to them.
