The person who inaugurated the building today was the developer and investor Erel Margalit. "There are many areas in which we could invest and go on this journey, we chose to do it here in the Galilee," he explained at the Hanukkah ceremony. "If you look from space to Earth and look for the place where the two revolutions took place - agricultural and technological - you see Israel and the Galilee. This area has all the data, climate and agriculture, research institutes and academic centers, but beyond that in the Galilee there are amazing people.

" Of a social connection between groups that have made a revolution themselves, "Margalit continued." The new center opens a door to the world. We pave the way for local entrepreneurs to become international. From today every local entrepreneur has a bridge to the world. We have created an infrastructure through all the centers of 'Margalit Startup City' for exposure to international investors, research and academic centers and international companies. "

The program will be conducted in collaboration with the Ministry of Education, and through it will operate startup, entrepreneurship, innovation and podtech tracks already in the current school year.

At today’s event they expressed hope that the FoodTech Center will provide smart solutions to the world’s burning problems, such as global warming, famine, drought and healthy food production while integrating the technological revolution in agriculture.

As part of promoting the Upper Galilee's transformation into an international food technology center, Economy Minister Orna Barbibai announced today that a national institute for food innovation will be established, jointly owned by a business partner with Tel Hai Academic College and the Miguel Research Institute, with a government investment of NIS 21.2 million.

The institute will be established near the Tel Hai Academic College.

During a visit to the college today, Barbibai said that "Israel, which is already considered one of the leading countries in the field of food innovation, has decided to go one step further and turn the Eastern Galilee, together with partners in the private and public sector, into an area of international excellence in food technology." He will become the center of knowledge of the ecosystem in terms of developing products similar to similar institutes around the world. "
