Manfred Setzmüller admits that it didn't go completely without singing during the lockdown.
That is why the Gilching men's choir sang in a very small cast and in compliance with all hygiene regulations, for example at Christmas in the hospital or at small festivities.
Today normal rehearsals start again.

- The 59-year-old master electrician has been a member of the “Guichinger Viergesang” at the Seefeld Hospital for many years, and since 1977 he has also been strengthening the “Gilching Men's Choir” with his voice. There he replaced Otto Wildmoser as chairman of the association five years ago.
“I've always enjoyed singing, including for many years with a choir in Munich. It's not just the singing alone, but also the sense of community that is important when learning a new song together. ”In this regard, the male choir with choir director Manuel Kundinger was“ very lucky ”, emphasizes the Gilchinger native. “He's not just an excellent conductor, he's an absolute professional when it comes to singing and music. He also fits us well in human terms. We are currently also in the process of broadening our repertoire in order to cover the entire spectrum of musical songs. This also includes opera arias and modern folk music. Our goal is to win new members and young singers. "
For the retreat of the younger generation from club life in general, Setzmüller blames, among other things, "that the beloved tradition of the regulars' table, at which people sang cheerfully, is disappearing more and more from social life".
The association currently has around 100 members, but only 25 of them are active singers.
Setzmüller reveals that fellow singer Günther Wagner is the oldest at the age of 90.
After a long lockdown break, Setzmüller has invited to the first public choir rehearsal again on Monday, September 23rd.
The start is at 7.30 p.m. in the clubhouse of the Spielmannszug, Rudolf-Diesel-Straße 3a.
After that, the rehearsals will take place every Monday in the Oberer Wirt in Altdorf, as usual.
Anyone can join, including those who just want to get a taste of it, and those who enjoy singing.
“Even if many people think they cannot sing.
With a little training and support from the choir community, anyone can really sing, ”says Setzmüller.
