After more than two weeks of hunger strike for a radical climate change, one of those involved came to the hospital in Berlin on Tuesday afternoon.
The 27-year-old Jacob Heinze passed out and was not accessible for some time, said the spokeswoman for the action, Hannah Lübbert, the dpa news agency.
That's why they called an ambulance.
The young man had been brought to the Charité.
According to SPIEGEL information, Heinze is not in mortal danger.
It cannot be ruled out that he will return to the camp soon to continue the hunger strike.
The climate activists said they had started an indefinite hunger strike on August 30th.
They want to achieve a public discussion with all three candidates for chancellor as well as the establishment of a citizens' council, which is supposed to give politicians immediate measures against climate change.
The activists are currently living in a camp near the Reichstag.
For some time, negotiations were in vain with the offices of the three candidates for chancellor - Armin Laschet, Olaf Scholz and Annalena Baerbock - about an appointment for the interview, explained Lübbert.
Green candidate Annalena Baerbock had phoned them, and SPD candidate Olaf Scholz had advised against the hunger strike.
But "that was not the public discussion that we are calling for," Lübbert told the AFP news agency.
The big parties are not doing enough against the climate crisis - their plans for reforms are "unrealistic" and "unconstitutional".
"We can't wait any longer and set an appointment ourselves: on September 23, 7:00 pm." If the candidates publicly accept the interview, the hunger strike would end immediately, it said.
That is how long the five remaining starving people would go on.
"We are the last generation who can prevent climate collapse," said the 20-year-old.
Physical discomfort and emotional impact
Activist Lina Eichler wants the interview.
The 19-year-old has been on a hunger strike for over two weeks.
“I'm getting worse every day.
Everything is super exhausting, every run, plus dizziness, muscle pain - I often freeze very much and have already lost over seven kilos «.
In addition to the physical complaints, there are also emotional effects.
"We're just desperate," said Eichler.
But her will is unbroken.
"What we're doing here is nowhere near as bad as what's in store for us." There was nothing left but the hunger strike.
"The chancellor candidates have our lives in their hands."
