Study checks: does iodine sulfur water help against corona nose?
Dr. Szyper, what is the content of the study?
We chose the term study because it is easy to understand.
But actually it is not a study whose result would be open, but a controlled observational treatment.
In the practice, we deal with patients on a daily basis who suffer from long-term effects of Covid 19 such as loss of smell and taste.
Unfortunately, only a limited therapy field is available for treatment.
In the case of other severe infections, we have found that the symptoms respond well to inhalations with iodine sulfur water.
It makes sense to offer this treatment to Covid 19 patients as well.
We want to specifically document the effect of our regulation and are conducting an objective survey.
How does that go?
The treatment consists of three inhalations per week in the Wiesse iodosulfur bath for four weeks.
That is a more intensive therapy than usual.
We record the patient's condition before and after the treatment with a detailed questionnaire.
In comparison, we can then see whether and how the inhalations affect the patient's condition.
Who can take part?
All patients whose Covid 19 illness was at least four weeks ago and who still have respiratory problems after this period.
In a thorough preliminary examination, we clarify whether the symptoms are not caused by an allergy or a chronic inflammation.
We want to focus specifically on the treatment of the long-term effects of Covid19.

How many participants should there be?
The treatments are already running, currently with around 40 participants.
Our goal is to include a total of 100 patients in this observation.
We will continue documentation until we reach that number.
We have not set a fixed time frame for this.
Patients who want to take part can contact the Wiesse iodosulfur bath directly or contact us in our practice.
What happens to the result of your documentation?
We will statistically evaluate the questionnaires and can safely draw helpful conclusions for the treatment of affected patients from the results.
A publication is also planned.
