After the compulsory break in the pandemic year 2020, the seventh Intercultural Weeks can finally take place from September 25th to October 5th in Dachau.

The focus of this year's event is the reading with Michaela Müller, who was born in Dachau. On Tuesday, September 28th, she will read from her book “Auf See. A story of Ayan and Samir ”. The novel tells of the escape of two people from Somalia, a country of civil war. Nikola Obermeier, editor-in-chief of Dachauer Nachrichten, moderates the subsequent discussion and draws a line from the year the novel was written to the present day. On September 30th and October 1st there will be a German-Turkish tour through the Muslim living area in the Hans-Sieber-Haus. This will be followed by a conversation on the subject of "Aging between cultures". 

The Integration Department of the City of Dachau, in cooperation with associations, initiatives and youth centers, has put together a varied program for the seventh Intercultural Weeks.


Anyone who has longed to go to the cinema in times of the pandemic, for example, has come to the right place at the film breakfast in the Kulturschranne.

On Saturday, October 2nd, five short films from Dachau, Munich, London and Kabul will be shown.

Some of the protagonists will be there and will be available for talks after the films.


One of the highlights of this year's Intercultural Weeks is the bilingual guided tour through the Dachau galleries: on September 29th there will be a German-Greek guided tour through the Neue Galerie and on October 3rd there will be a German-Turkish guided tour through the Gemäldegalerie.


Anyone interested in a guided city tour in easy language will have the chance to find out interesting facts about Dachau in an easy-to-understand way on October 2nd.


On the evening of October 5th, the Ignaz-Taschner-Gymnasium used a light campaign on the facade to highlight the enrichment of the school family through the diversity of its students.


The closing event of the Intercultural Weeks on October 5th is more topical than ever: With “Cause of Escape compact.

Country of origin Afghanistan ”, the acknowledged Afghanistan expert Friederike Stahlmann speaks about current political developments and the humanitarian situation in Afghanistan.
