On the road to the airport, the poster bursts out like a flashback. The German group Scorpions performed in Kiev just before the pandemic. Many years ago, their
Wind of Change
evoked against a background of electric guitars the coming together of the two blocks, the utopia of a more fraternal world. At that time, Ukraine, just one piece of the Soviet puzzle, was still chasing its fate. In 1991, the country was finally born. By leaving the Russian fold, it traced its borders, and Kiev, for the first time, became permanently the capital of a young nation.
From the Orange Revolution to that of Maidan Square, from the annexation of Crimea to the Donbass War, the country trembled from its first steps.
However, the administration does not define the nation.
To polish the mirror of its identity, it needs creators and artists.
Kiev is now building a cultural center.
