Yam Madar's signature on partisan Belgrade was widely covered in the Israeli media and today (Sunday) the Serbian "Mozart Sport" website published a special interview with the group's young and promising Israeli.
"The main reason I came here is to learn from coach Oberdovic," Madar said of the decorated coach. "After all, we're talking about someone with nine Euroleague wins."
On life in Israel and the military:
"Growing up in Israel is something special. When you are in this environment, dedicated to your country. Everyone goes to the army, this is the way everyone should go. You are aware of it as a child. You can choose what to do there. I was an assistant coach at a basketball school. I taught them from my experience and Israel is a small country, so everyone knew me, they would watch me play the day before and see how I deal with difficult moments. "

On his comparison to Golden State star Steph Kerry due to the similarities between the two:
"There are ongoing comparisons between us. Of course Kerry is something special, different. I try to be as good as possible, progress to be better and help the team."
How do Israelis react when they hear that you are playing under the European coach who has won the most Euroleague trophies of all time?
"It's a big deal for people in Israel. Well, just playing for a year under Jeliko is a wonderfully big deal. From the moment I got a call from him, I knew I had made a decision."
