Al-Suwayda football team for the deaf came fourth in the Republic Cup indoor championship, which concluded its competitions in Al-Fayhaa Hall in Damascus recently.
As-Suwayda team succeeded in qualifying for the semi-finals after its victory in the first round over Quneitra 3-2 and its loss against Damascus 10-4, then it lost in the semi-final against Aleppo 7-4 and in the match to determine the third and fourth places against Damascus by penalty kicks after a 5-5 tie.
In a statement to SANA’s sports representative, the team’s coach, Nizar Abu Ras, indicated that the tournament, which was held in cooperation between the Football Association and the Special Sports Federation, was strong in its technical level, which brought the teams close with a relative preference for Aleppo and Latakia, indicating that the preparation of his team was not in the required form, pointing out that work will be done. During the coming period, to better show the team that needs great support in the upcoming tournaments.
As-Suwayda team was represented by Mahmoud, Nawras Naim, Safwan Al-Sayegh, Mustafa Abu Ghazi, Waseem Zeineddine, William Asfour, Raja Nofal, Alaa Obeid, Najm Bakri, Sameh Nasr, Omar Al-Barbour and Salim Dawara.
